MY FLOORING WARRANTY Endorses ICRA Performance Assessment Certifications
Providence Inc. dba My Flooring Warranty is proud to endorse the International Cleaning and Restoration Association (ICRA). John Mapes, President of Providence has worked closely with ICRA while they developed the Performance Assessment program for carpet cleaning certification. According to Mapes, “Barry Costa, ICRA Education Committee Chair and his team have done an absolutely wonderful job complimenting the existing IICRC training program with practical, tactile and real world hands-on evaluations.”
Mapes went on to say: “I believe the addition of ICRA performance assessment certification will raise the bar in our industry on training and standards to such a level that when certifications are issued, they’ll actually mean something. They’ll actually mean you can perform that task or function with a level of proficiency that has been demonstrated and is predictable. Working closely with all the carpet mills, My Flooring Warranty is directly involved as a conduit between the manufacturer and the service company, all for the benefit of the end consumer. The mills have learned that our internal standard to qualify as a participating My Flooring Warranty service company meets and exceeds their standards for service provider performance.
My Flooring Warranty will soon require that all new service providers enrolling in its’ program have the ICRA Performance Assessment and the proper IICRC certification(s). This enhanced requirement will be phased in between September 1, 2014 and the end of next year (2015) to allow participants ample time to comply. During the same time frame, ICRA plans to have assessment centers established in various locations throughout the US to accommodate candidates that wish to be assessed. My Flooring Warranty feels so strongly about the ICRA assessment program that it will rebate the cost of the assessment for each owner or their designed lead technician, from the program’s initial sign-up fee. It’s our job to stay two steps ahead of the mills service provider requirements. Staying even with these standards isn’t enough; we have to stay one to two years ahead of the curve. Having our service providers ICRA Performance assessed is a part of My Flooring Warranty’s’ promise and maintaining our integrity as a company.
A large part of what My Flooring Warranty does includes working closely with the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) and monitoring their position with regards to these same standards and product certifications. It’s confusing to the consumer if we (the industry) fail to communicate the need for improved standards and certification. Since CRI is the most trusted and recognized brand by the consumer, it only makes sense to keep them included in the process.” Mapes went on to say “Each certifying body compliments the other and by the end of the day all boats in the harbor rise.”
